Why this tool?
Although widely recognized that participation in adult training benefits go beyond the educational and economic outcomes and previous research clearly shows positive associations between AE participation and desirable personal and social outcomes, relevant data is rarely collected on a regular basis. What purpose does this tool solve? This tool is a set of two focus group guidelines to be carried out with AE stakeholders (especially training providers) and AE participants. How to use this tool? This tool consists of 2 interview protocols, one to be carried out with AE learners and one with the representatives of the training providers. We highly recommend carrying out the focus groups after at least 6 months from the completion of the training, to allow the beneficiaries to take action and therefore get a more realistic view of the mid-term and possible longer-term benefits. A time frame between 6 to 12 months from the completion of the training would ensure balance between the risk of losing contact with the learners and allowing enough time for the real life results to settle.
